The HSBC Charity "Mela" held on 26 November 2005 at the YMCA helped eight charities to top-up their "coffers". A total sum of RM147,000 was raised and the Bank generously topped the figure to RM160,000 and all cost were also underwritten by the Bank.

At a simple cheque presentation ceremony held on 09 January 2006 at the Bank's premises, Mr. Cama Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive presented a RM20,000- cheque to each of the representatives (Selangor Cheshire Home, Rumah Bethany, Persatuan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Ampang, Persatuan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Kajang, Persatuan Dyslexia, Pusat Majudiri 'Y', Hospis Malaysia, Perkobp).

The eight charities jointly presented a batik painting done by a resident of Selangor Cheshire to the Bank and they thanked Mr. Cama and all volunteers from the Bank for their contribution, both in kind and in cash.

The HSBC Charity "Mela" is one of the projects initiated under the umbrella of "HSBC in the Community". About 400 volunteers (staff) inclusive of Senior Managers participated in the 1-day event.
